Welcome to Myland Parish
Halls! Our tour will take you through the main entrance, around the
reception area, into the Large Hall, the Small hall, the kitchen and
upstairs to the Board Room. Feel free to ask questions on the way - by
emailing us, of course!
Welcome
to the Large
Hall. This room is the one we have used as the main Hall for the last
sixty years - but after its renovation, it has restored features of the
original School Room, such as the ceiling, renewed features features such
as the lighting, and brand new benefits such as central heating, for the
first time in 139 years!
Each of the Halls is
colour-coded; the Large Hall, as you can see, has red touches such as the
noticeboards, and the chairs.
There seem to be more doors
from the Large Hall than before - that's because there are toilets for use
by those meeting in the Large hall, as well as the entrance to the kitchen
- which is accessible from the Small Hall, too.
Here's
the kitchen - it's fully fitted, with a double oven, a commercial
dishwasher (with an 8-minute cycle), microwave, and fridge/freezer. As you
can see, there's lots of space for preparing food; behind those many
cupboard doors there's an extensive range of crockery, cutlery and
utensils; and if it all gets too much, there's a large extractor fan, too.
But
back to the Large Hall - here's a photo which shows that the original
windows have been retained; there are now "grey-out" blinds, which can be
used to reduce light levels to enable audio-visual presentations; and the
new chairs are stored on trolleys in the corner of the room, so that they
take up very little space.
Some of the chairs are
upholstered for greater comfort - some are not, so that more active, or
potentially messy, activities can take place in the Halls.
If you were observant when
viewing the entrance area, you will have noticed the absence of coat hooks
- that's because there is provision for coats in each of the rooms.
Here
are the coat hooks - like many features of the refurbished Halls, they are
of an interesting design - they are reverse hooks! Some are also fixed at
lower levels so that they can be used by people of all ages, and as the
hooks are on the inside, no-one should be at risk of injury from them.
The
capacity of the Large Hall is 100 in Meeting format, and 80 in Restaurant
format.
Here we see the Hall set out
for a meeting, leaving space for fire exits as well as access to the
kitchen and toilets.
Looks inviting, doesn't it?
But we have to move on; why not click on the link to the Small hall or the
Board Room? See you there....
