Saturday 26th July 2008
The grounds of Myland Parish
Halls were alive with the buzz of conversation, the smell of barbecue food
and the sound of chinking change on Saturday 26th July, when our first
Summer Fair took place in aid of the Myland Parish Halls Modernisation
Project.
We had watched the weather
forecasts with some trepidation, but the day was hot and sunny, bringing
the local community out in force to sample the many stalls set up by every
one of the Organisations who meet at the Halls. We chose one of the
busiest weekends of the year, as the annual Art Exhibition was in
the Halls and the Flower Festival was taking place in Church. We're
pleased we made that decision, as it brought so many friends and
colleagues together - and because the result was a whopping £1,005 net
profit for the Modernisation Project!
We also held our Grand Draw
as the Fair was closing, and that too made a substantial profit of just
over £700. We are most grateful to the organisations who donated valuable
prizes for the draw, or provided goods to be sold at the Fair. And of
course to every one of us who contributed to the £1,700 which brings the
refurbishment of the Halls one step closer!
here are some photographs of
the Summer Fair.....
