It's amazing to see how much has been achieved by our Contractors in just eight weeks!

Here are the latest photographs, showing just how far we've progressed from the days of fund-raising, budgeting and drawing-boards.

From the large photo, it's clear that the foundations of the new areas are now complete - the new toilet block, the new back hall and the entrance area; obviously, the plumbing below ground is complete too. The girders to support the exterior walls of the back hall can be seen on the left, and the dark lignacite stone blocks are now in place up to the level of the damp proof course. The light-coloured blocks on the pallets in the foreground will form the exterior walls of the new building.

The next two photos show the new exterior walls beginning to take shape, and that's happening very quickly, with four courses of blocks being laid in one day!

It's a very busy site right now, as the photo bottom-left shows. We might not think this summer has been particularly good so far, but only four hours' work were lost in the last month due to adverse weather. There's lots happening inside the halls, too: old doorways are being blocked up and new ones formed; old plaster is being stripped off, and interior walls are being built. The photo at bottom-right tells that tale; you may still recognise part of the old back hall.

The really good news is that we're bang on schedule, and looking forward to the view changing even more spectacularly in the weeks ahead.
